While driving around today, running my glorious errands I came across something that made me think. What would a person in the year 2008 be doing driving around with FUZZY DICE hanging from their rear view mirror? It’s not the first time that I have seen a pair dangling every so gracefully inside someones car, but it made me wonder who started this craze and why. So I did what any good computer-savvy person would do…I googled it. Boy, did I open up a can of worms. Google came back with 1 million and 800 thousand hits. Where do I begin? Wikipedia was a first obvious choice. Apparently it’s a fad that originated in the 1950’s [slightly before my debut on this planet]. I guess we bling everything else out, why not a car? There is actually an entire website devoted to the FUZZY DICE. You can also buy fuzzy dice with your favorite NFL team on them. My favorite had to be the website dedicated to the cause of tacky living where they teach you how to make your very own FUZZY DICE.   Also available at tackyliving.com are the Wonder Bread cookbook and Twinkie Cookbook. Every recipe involves one of these favorite American Classics. CNN Money wanting to get in on the mix gives out the FUZZY DICE awards –the best and worst of car stuff throughout the year. I even found an American Rockabilly Band called THE FUZZY DICE. [Rockabilly, by the way, is one of the earliest styles of rock 'n roll music that also emerged in the 50's.] All this talk of FUZZY DICE has got me thinking what other classic things do we dangle from within our cars. Here are just a few I found online—car chimes, sequined bandannas, rosary beads, cd’s, crystal ball prisms and last but certainly not least —air freshener. In all my web crawling, would you believe I found a support group for people who hang things from their rear view mirrors. [WOW]

YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF… you have ever listed FUZZY DICE on an insurance claim. -Jeff Foxworthy
